Started with a Phantom 2 in 2015 and has owned or flown 20+ drones, from $300 toys to a $15,000 enterprise rig. He flies 4-5 days a week in 110-degree heat, and his logbook covers battery degradation, gimbal failures, and exactly how the '40 minute flight time' claims die in summer.

What We Believe

• Flight time is a lab number. In real heat and wind, cut every claim by 30-40%.
• The camera is 50% of the drone. A great airframe with a soft camera is a $1,000 paperweight.
• Batteries are the real cost. Buy the kit with extra batteries or don't buy at all.
• Obstacle avoidance is a safety net, not a pilot. I still fly like it doesn't exist.
